Educational Background
in Translation and Law
I hold a master’s degree in German Law (LL.M.) from the law school at the University of Augsburg, where I graduated with the highest qualification with a thesis on constitutional law and human rights.
I earned a master’s degree in Specialized Translation from the Universidad de Córdoba, Spain, and the Instituto Superior de Estudios Lingüísticos y Traducción in Seville, Spain (German into Spanish and Spanish into German).
I’m also a graduate of the law school of the Universidad de la República, Uruguay.
Certifications and Memberships
The ATA (American Translators Association) recognized me for my proficiency and adherence to industry standards and certified me as an English-to-Spanish translator.
I’m also a member of the German Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDÜ).
Language Proficiency
Spanish is my native language and I’m also fluent in English and German. I currently live in Bavaria, Germany.
I’ve been working as a translator since 2006 and started my translation business in 2012 after moving to Germany and completing my master’s degree here.
I’ve obtained a certificate in translation (English>Spanish, Spanish>English)/Endorsement to Certificate of Proficiency in English (University of Cambridge).
My language certificates include the Certificate of Proficiency in English (University of Cambridge) and the Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung/Goethe-Zertifikat C2 (Goethe Institut, Germany).

Committed to life-long learning (30 hours/year), I hold certificates in editing and proofreading in Spanish (AulaSIC), subtitling for film and television (Trágora Formación), translation strategies and methodologies, legal translation, plain language, CAT (computer-assisted translation) tools, IT and many more.

Professional Experience
I’ve been working as a freelance translator from German and English into Spanish since 2012. Before that, I worked as a program assistant at the Rule of Law Program for Latin America of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for six years, and as a trilingual secretary at the Swiss-Uruguayan Chamber of Commerce for one year. I also practiced law in Uruguay before moving to Germany in 2011. I meet all the requirements to practice law in Uruguay, and I’m registered with the Uruguayan Supreme Court of Justice.
Personal Background and Residency:
I was born in Uruguay and lived there for 28 years. During that time, I also completed my law degree.
I’ve been a resident in Germany since 2011.
